CV.

I made this "H" today to head my CV (which I have added a link to at the top of the blog).
It is done using ink and black pen.

I also think it would make for a really nice tattoo ;)

Photography Job.

I just got a photography gig.
Taking photos during a pony club competition for the riding stables down my road.

Slight problem....I'm terrified of horses.
Erm...

Eau de Lacoste.

I love this advert :)
So clever.

Me and my sister have been trying to recreate the t shirt fold (it's how they do it in Japan apparently) but it doesn't look anywhere as neat as it does here! Ha

My very productive work environment :)

I've been here all day.
It's now 8.15pm.
I will be here until the wee hours of the morning :(
Final two weeks before hand in....the all nighters start.

Plus my fingers are all bandaged up from repeated use of a scalpel digging in. Ouch.

Tesco Puzzle.

Here I have tried to mix up how I have been presenting my Final Major Project.
I had been making books for each logo, but I decided for my Tesco logo I would make a puzzle instead of each page in the book.
I'm still trying to perfect a way of making the actual puzzles. The photos above are from the most successful choice of materials (paper and cereal box card) but it's incredibly had to cut out with a scalpel, and too fiddly for scissors.

How each puzzle will look.
The pieces will all be put into an envelope (an idea borrowed from Japanese designer Ryosuke Uehara) so it will be a little bit of a challenge to work out which piece is for which Cetacean, but they are all a slightly different shade of blue so it shouldn't be too difficult.

This is Me.

"home" : the place where one lives permanently, esp. as a member of a family or household

This is Me.

"self" : a person's essential being that distinguishes them from others
: a person's particular nature or personality; the qualities that make a person individual or unique
: one's own interests or pleasure

This is Me.

Further photographs for my photographic cv:

"romantic" : inclined towards or suggestive of the feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love

"feminine" : having qualities traditionally associated with women, esp. delicacy and prettiness

"collect" : systematically seek and acquire (items of a particular kind) as a hobby

"comfort" : a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint

Mini Tesco Book.

Another version of the book I have previously made to illustrate my recreated Tesco logo, for the story of them selling whale and dolphin meat in their Japanese stores.
This version uses print out whale and dolphin shapes, which are outlined in black (although they should be blue to go with the logo)
I really like this idea for my Tesco logo, and because of the shape I can cut out the final sentence declaring exactly what the point is and let the viewer decide.
It was, however, really tricky to try and join the whales and dolphins together, so that is something that needs fine tuning before I make the very final book.

Mini Nestle Book.

Another mini book I made for my Final Major Project.
This one is for the many sins of Nestle.
It's almost a flip book, just a very long, thin one!
Each page features a sentence or statement relating to the story, but there is no giveaway sentence at the end. It is left for the viewer to interpret how each fact is associated with Nestle.

Nature.

I've spent the whole day working on this book.
On the left is a variety of different papers, in neutral/natural colours and different textures, and the photograph is on the right.
I used 5"x7" sized photographs.
This book, along with the three large dead animal photographs, mounted on black card, make up the final outcome for part 1 of my photography module.

The disadvantage to having a curious puppy...

He gets in the way of your photographs!

Eleanor Bowley.

Eleanor Bowley is an illustrator who uses stitching and trimmings on recycled fabrics to create her soft, yet graphic images.

Aya Kakeda.

Aya Kakeda is a textile and performance artist.
In her own words, "she likes cats, seals and receiving postcards, and she has ever changing weekly obsessions".
When she doesn't indulge in her obsessions she paints and draws, creating her own whimsical narratives.

Vicky Scott.

Vicky Scott produces graphic collages and illustrations.
The main inspiration for her work comes from humourous social situations and the people and places that suggest them.
Although her work has a contemporary feel often inspired by style magazines she likes her pieces to maintain a handmade aesthetic, using materials including coloured beads, card and fabric.

Kate Slater.

Kate Slater is a freelance illustrator living and working in London.
She works with collage techniques, with lots of handmade elements and paper cuts.

"I am a hat-wearing, cloud-gazing, paper-hoarding, collage-holic and grew up on a beautiful farm deep in the middle of England"

Final Major Project.

I just started my tenth sketchbook.

It sure looks good, but it's going to be a nightmare to carry it all into uni for the final hand-in.
Especially as I have another module with 5 sketchbooks to carry as well :S

Apple Book.

Photographs of my (semi-) final handmade book to illustrate the story behind my recreated Apple logo.
This is the story of multiple suicides at a Chinese factory that makes Apple's products.
